Welcome to Pronoun Book

Pronoun Book is a platform for pronoun expression and authentic self-identity. We respect all people's pronouns—whether you use he/him, she/her, they/them, it/its, or create your own coined pronouns. This is a space for free speech and respectful dialogue about identity, expression, and personal experiences. While our roots are in Texas, we welcome members from everywhere. Members can optionally pledge allegiance to The Great State of Texas to earn a special Texas badge.

Content Policy

We support free speech while maintaining a safe environment for all members. Our content moderation applies equally to everyone, regardless of identity or orientation.

What's Allowed:

  • Sharing personal experiences and struggles (including mental health discussions)
  • Discussing gender identity changes, transitions, and personal journeys
  • Sharing experiences of gay bashing, misgendering, and discrimination you've faced
  • Expressing anger, frustration, or strong emotions about discrimination and injustice
  • Reporting discrimination or hate speech you've encountered
  • Political discourse from all perspectives (conservative and liberal viewpoints welcome)
  • Discussion of difficult topics in a respectful manner
  • Posting flags and symbols as part of historical or cultural expression (Confederate flag, pride flags, state flags, etc.)
  • Creating and sharing custom pronouns

Important: You can share difficult experiences and express genuine emotions about discrimination, trauma, or injustice. However, all posts must still avoid foul language/slurs and follow our content policy. Use trigger warnings for graphic or emotionally intense content.

Profanity & Language Policy:

We support free speech and understand that political and social commentary sometimes includes strong language.Mild profanity and censored language are allowed when used in context (e.g., "f that", "the P word", "sh*t"). However, slurs targeting protected groups are strictly prohibited regardless of who uses them.

  • Allowed: "f that baby", "grab them by the P word", censored profanity (sh*t, f*ck), quoting public figures
  • Not Allowed: Slurs (F-word ending in T, N-word, etc.), sexually explicit harassment, direct personal attacks with profanity

What's Not Allowed:

  • Hate speech and slurs - No one gets a pass to use derogatory language targeting protected groups (race, orientation, gender identity, religion, disability)
  • Nazi symbols and hate group imagery - Swastikas, Nazi flags, KKK imagery, and other hate symbols are strictly prohibited and NOT protected by flag exceptions
  • Crisis content or encouragement of harm - While we support sharing your journey and struggles, posts focused on being in crisis should be directed to trained professionals. We're here for hope, recovery, and mutual support
  • Nudity and sexually explicit content - AI moderation checks all uploaded images
  • Harassment and bullying - Treat others with respect

Equal Application of Rules

Content rules apply to everyone equally. Being LGBTQIA does not grant permission to violate community guidelines. Gay people cannot make anti-gay statements, and straight people cannot make anti-straight statements. We enforce standards consistently across all members.

⚠️ Trigger Warnings

You can mark your posts with trigger warnings to give others a heads-up about potentially sensitive content. When you add a trigger warning, your content will be blurred until viewers choose to reveal it.

Appropriate Use:

  • Detailed discussions of mental health struggles, trauma, or difficult experiences
  • Graphic descriptions of medical procedures or gender-affirming care journeys
  • Content about eating disorders, self-harm recovery, or addiction recovery
  • Discussions of abuse, violence, or discrimination you've experienced
  • Images or videos that may be emotionally intense

Important: Trigger Warnings Don't Bypass Rules

Trigger warnings are NOT a free pass to violate community guidelines. Content marked with trigger warnings is still subject to AI moderation and must follow all community rules. Trigger warnings are for sensitive but allowed content, not for posting prohibited material.

  • Wrong: Using trigger warnings to post hate speech, slurs, or explicit content
  • Right: Using trigger warnings for graphic descriptions of struggles that comply with guidelines
